American Tractors is unique in offering European farmers the tools they need to do big  jobs. AmTrac is Europe's premier outlet for rebuilt Steigers and Ford FWs. They also hand build articulated 4wd  tractors to client's specification. On the drawing board at AmTrac is a range of 5 unusual tractors, in a format that neither Steiger , nor Versatile, ever dreamed up.  Big custom built models from AmTrac include the Lioness 375 & 450, Lioness & Cub 525 & 600, Tigress & Cub 750. American Tractors  started in 1984 as a 'repair, paint & sell' ,is now more a 'repair and sell inexpensively' for series III Steigers and Ford FW 4wds, and 'rebuild' for series IV Steigers with a lot of redesigned parts. Visit www.amtrac.co.uk to view a few examples. On average one 400 hp rebuilt American 4wd model leaves AmTrac every six weeks. For an example AmTrac built a 4wd with a 460 hp Cat 3406c engine in  in 2000. The owner became uncomfortable with the advent of the 440 hp STX Quadtrac next door, so AmTrac obliged. In 2002 the same AmTrac 4wd was rebuilt with heavier axle mounts, various mechanical alterations, and 525 hp engine. This should keep the small fry 440 hp 4wds at bay for a short while.  The major multinational 4wd makers are very close to introducing 500hp tractors AmTrac is dreaming up 600+ hp tractors on classic Steiger frames.  The Toy Farmer Steiger Series by Ertl is slated in 2005 to feature the Tigress as its 12th model.
