3294

The 1980's ushered in the era of 4wd row-crop tractors. Since the introduction of high horse power 4wds in the 1960's many farm markets had been asking for a smaller, less expensive and more nimble 4wd tractor. Although a 4wd option on 2wd tractors was not very popular with farmers until the early 1980's when a poor farm economy made them take a second look.  Farmers began to realize a mechanical-front wheel drive tractor could do the same field work as a four wheeler for a lower price. The Constant Traction 163hp Case 3294 introduced in 1984 looked similar to the 90 series tractors but had a new black and white paint scheme along with the new Case tri-stripe decal. From 1985-1986 the 3294 was sold under the Case International name brand . The 3294 was designed with full-time constant traction MFD. Constant-Traction MFD meant there was no shifting out of 4wd. The Case 3294 filled out Case's 4wd nicely by offering farmers a smaller full time 4wd with no additional tooling costs for the factory. Ertl offered a 1/16 Case 3294 from 1984-1985. Pictured above is one of Ertl's first Case International Toys. It is a 3294 with a special Case International introduction decal marking the merger of the Case and International Harvester brands . The regular 1/16 Case International 3294 was offered from 1985-1987 when the 1/16 7130 Magnum replaced it.
